SAN JUAN - It has finally paid off! Weslaco High will be advancing to the next round in the playoffs after sweeping the PSJA High Bears in the Bi-district round.

Weslaco (9-11, 5-9) won game 2 with a final score of 6-3, followed by a 6-1 game 3 win in an afternoon game.

"We came in ready to play with nothing to lose and everything to prove," said Tim Serna. "We had great defense, me and Dylan De Leon came in and shut down the Bears on the mound and had great timeily hitting. We kept the pressure on them."

"Everyone is ecstatic and everyone is ready for Eagle Pass," said Serna.

The Panthers will be advancing to the Area round which will be played on May 19, 2009. Weslaco will now have Eagle Pass on their hands.
