WESLACO - It was the last game of the season for the Wildcats and a very victorious one as well. Tonight, the Wildcats did just that earning a win over Mission Veterans 16-9. Weslaco East finished the season (4-14) overall and (4-10) in district play. Now it's up to next year's team to strive, turn around this season's results and make the playoffs.

Freddy Castillo, Matt Ayala and Joe Castillo all a great night. F. Castillo was 4-for-5, Ayala 3-for-4 and J. Castillo 3-for-4.

In the fifth and sixth inning the Wildcats scored a combined total of 10 runs.

Down 8-6 going into the bottom of the fifth, Devin Ybarra got things started hitting a single, advancing Amador Ceballos to second base after being walked. Ceballos and Ybarra would score later in the inning off a triple. Late in the fifth, Bryan Guzman scored off a Ayala single to right feild.

The Wildcats would score six more runs in the bottom of the sixth to top the Patriots 16-9.

"They played to win tonight, they played hard," said Weslaco East head coach Ruben Riojas. "This was our last game."

"Next year is a rebuliding year," said Riojas. "We are going to be very young. We need to get experience."

"The upcoming team is not going to take a loss, but better yet a win," said Riojas. "They are going to have a lot of heart."
