WESLACO - Tonight the Panthers played for the fourth seed in district 32-5A. Weslaco High (5-10) overall and (5-9) in district play lost with a final score of 6-3 against Brownsville Lopez.
"We played good defense, the outfielder for Lopez had many great plays that could have turned the game around if he hadn't caught them," said Weslaco High head coach Eddie Serna. "I take my hats off to him."
Going into the sixth inning, the Panthers were tied 3-3. Lopez scored a total of three runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead 6-3. The Lobos were down 2-1 going into fifth.
Now the Panthers are in a three way tie. Tomorrow the fourth seed will be determined in Los Fresnos.
"Obviously just stick together, swing the bat," said Serna, about tomorrows match up. "If we can duplicate that tomorrow, we will be ok. If we do that, we should be able to get passed our match ups."
Weslaco High will play Los Fresnos at 2PM in Los Fresnos, TX. The winner will play San Benito at 6PM in Los Fresnos, TX.
